Auto Headlight Restoration in Castro Valley, CA

Auto Headlight Restoration in Castro Valley, CA | Adams Autoworx

Since the 1990s, auto manufacturers started making headlights out of polycarbonate plastic, instead of glass. The rationale was that glass cracks more easily, while plastic is less likely to crack, more scratch resistant, and can be more easily formed into various shapes. Unfortunately, one of the negatives of the polycarbonate plastic is the slow deterioration of the outer layer of the plastic, manifesting as “foggy headlights”.

“Foggy headlights” are a result of air pollution, grit, and, primarily, exposure of the headlight plastic to the UV rays from the sun. Outer layers of the plastic begin do degrade and absorb blue light from the bulbs, resulting in yellowish, less potent light getting through the plastic. This diminishes effectiveness of the headlights.

Fortunately, we can restore your vehicle’s headlights to their former glory. Specially formulated chemicals combined with cleaning and grinding off the outer, degraded layer of the plastic, can restore the headlights to almost pristine condition. If you have gotten used to driving with “fogged up” headlights, you will be surprised at the difference.

At Adams Autoworx we offer headlight restoration for most passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks. So if your headlights have seen better days, let us know that you are interested in headlight restoration. We can perform headlight restoration while your car is in for regular service, so you don’t have to make a separate trip.
