Mass Airflow Sensor Replacement in Castro Valley, CA

Mass Airflow Sensor Replacement in Castro Valley, CA | Adams Autoworx

Modern vehicles are equipped with numerous sensors to provide information to onboard computers. Mass airflow sensor (aka MAF sensor) measures the amount of air flowing into the engine. Onboard computer uses this information to adjust the amount of fuel pumped into the engine. It also calculates the expected amount of exhaust gases. The car, in effect, is tuning itself in real-time. At Adams Autoworx in Castro Valley, a full service auto repair shop, we offer mass airflow sensor diagnostics, sensor cleaning service, and MAF sensor replacement if it is malfunctioning.

Mass airflow sensor malfunction will usually result in black smoke coming from the exhaust, stalling, rough idling, even engine misfires.  Onboard computer will turn “on” the check engine light as well. Unfortunately, most of these symptoms are not unique to mass airflow sensor failure. They can occur for a variety of reasons, so when they do occur, you will need to bring your vehicle to a professional auto repair shop, so technicians can perform diagnostics and identify the root cause of the problem.

Naturally, at Adams Autoworx in Castro Valley we can perform mass airflow sensor diagnostics, and if the sensor is found to be faulty, we can get it replaced. All repairs performed by our nationally ASE certified technicians are covered by a nationwide 36 month / 36,000 mile warranty.

When the mass air flow sensor experiences problems, the onboard computer will turn on the check engine light. We highly recommend taking your vehicle for an inspection as soon as it is possible. Driving for prolonged time with a failed MAF sensor can result in damage to the catalytic converter. As a matter of fact, it is never a good idea to ignore the check engine light.

Call Adams Autoworx in Castro Valley if you notice symptoms of mass airflow sensor failure, and especially if the check engine light came “on”. Our technicians, certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), will use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, combined with decades of auto repair experience to diagnose the reason for the symptoms and the check engine light. Once we know the underlying cause of the symptoms your vehicle exhibits, we will recommend the correct course of action, including MAF sensor replacement, if necessary.

Our friendly service advisors are looking forward to helping you resolve any and all automotive service and repair needs. We offer complimentary local Lyft/Uber rides, so you can continue with your day, while your vehicle is being repaired. So if your vehicle is exhibiting symptoms of mass airflow sensor failure, if it has the check engine light “on”, or if you are uneasy about any aspect of its operation, call us to make an appointment, and we will provide you with courteous and professional service. For your convenience, we also offer online appointments on our website.
